I've been hesitant to quit using this blog because it's my very first one, with posts going back, oh geez, seven years this month. But seven years also seems a biblical kind of time to end, and since I haven't posted anything meaningful here in a very long time, I think that time has already come. And, I think we know, the things I was using this blog for are now being filled by some other sources. If you care about my personal life, facebook and twitter are good places to check. If you want to see me try to be smart, I've been doing that from time to time on my other blog and Think Christian. If you want to see me try to be funny, check the "blog".
Farewell, Xanga. You have long been outmoded, and it is time for me to move on. I won't forget our past, though. You taught me about writing, you helped me build friendships, you built my interest in uses of new media for community. Thanks.

the bus that comes close to my house was early today, so I missed it. Then I walked to the further away bus, got on one, and then another bus came a little later and left first!
I made it to my classroom though, and things started looking up. My students were engaged, they gave good impromptus, I figured out how to play youtube in the classroom.
My new ipod shipped. Then I went downtown during my break to shop for costume pieces for kristen's themed birthday party this weekend. Found for $15. Sweet.
THEN my Jimmy Johns, my number one lunch destination in athens, was CLOSED. Like, really closed. Like out of business. WHAT? So I had to get another sandwich which didn't sit as well as comforting Jimmy Johns and I have to give a big deal presentation this afternoon and I'm concerned about the tenor of the day.
However, maybe the supercollider will distroy the earth, and I don't have to worry about grad school anymore.

Leona Lewis' song "Bleeding Love" has been on the radio literally every time I get in the car this week. When I first heard the song I thought "meh". And then I loved it, and included it on all my summer mixes, and listened to it when I was cleaning or primping (it's a great primp song). I saw it on some lists of potential "songs of the summer," and I felt so cool, I totally know what that is. This week, I'm on the border. I either frickin love that song, or I find it kind of annoying.
Actually this is what usually happens:
(car starts.... song comes on radio)
oh, seriously? this one AGAIN? Let's see if there's something else on the radio
(opera... commercial... obnoxious dj... commercial... back to Bleeding Love)
well, it's a good song, I'll just... (commence singing along loudly)

Song of MY summer anyway. That and every Ingrid Michaelson song in my collection.

Jamie: it's the feminist version, she eats all the men. Oh, and sometimes in between the levels she makes out with pacman.

So it turns out that Jim had been the usual audience for silly things I think of or see. Since I can't tell him anymore, I'm blogging it:

Today I saw a guy walking around with a little dog on his shoulders like Jesus carries the lamb in those good shepherd pictures. Isn't the point of taking your dog for a walk so the dog can get exercise? It was funny.

At the grocery store, they were selling Atlanta Braves wines. Because when I think about a major league baseball team, I think about good wine.

Jim and I broke up. We had been together for 2 years. I move around between feeling horrible and feeling ok. But I'm not mad at him, and I am confident that we made the right decision, and I'm glad we made it together. But it still sucks. He's a great guy and my best friend. Was my best friend I guess. It's been 5 hours since we ended it and I already miss him.
